My name is Anna Giannakis and I would like to tell you a bit about myself.
I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. I am of Greek descent as both my parents are Greek. I studied at the Sydney Teacher’s College and also worked as a Speech Therapist.
I came to beautiful Greece and have never even contemplated leaving this wonderful and blessed country. I have been teaching English since 1987 and have been working at G. Papas Language School since 1998.
Throughout the course of my teaching career I have attended numerous seminars, training programs and workshops as I truly believe the mind must not stagnate. I like to keep up with the changing trends in education and try to fully implement them in my classes. I have received various certifications noting my attendance and participation.
I enjoy a challenge and am always willing and open to new ideas and methods.
What do I strive to achieve in the classroom? My philosophy of education is, as the saying goes…
“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” – Plutarch.
I strongly believe in handing the tools to my students to help guide them on their journey through education.
I believe that what makes a good teacher is not only the qualifications and experience but being able to deliver the lesson in a way that transmits your enthusiasm and passion for what you are doing to the learner.
We must always remember that we, the teachers, are the mirrors of our classes and what we reflect is what is absorbed by our students.
